JAMS PTSA Charter Meeting
Please mark your calendars and join us for our PTSA Charter Membership meeting, Wednesday, April 2nds at 7 PM in the JAMS Cafeteria. We will be organizing and voting on joining the Washington State PTA, and membership dues of $15 will be collected at that time.

Coffee, tea and treats, courtesy of the generous Nathan Hale HS parents, will be served as well.

A membership form is available here if you would like to fill it out and bring it with you, or if you cannot make it to the meeting and would like to join as a Charter Member.

We hope to see as many of you at JAMS next week as possible.

Summer Music for JAMS!

 

Enrollment for Summer Music is now live! All incoming 6th grade JAMS instrumentalists are highly encouraged to sign up for Summer Music. Students will have an opportunity to get to know each other, strengthen musical skills, get to know JAMS music teacher Deb Schaaf, and have fun!

Washington Middle School Teacher Leader, Beverly Zanetti, joins JAMS
Ms. Beverly Zanetti has accepted the Literacy Teacher Leader position for Jane Addams Middle School. Beverly is joining us from Washington Middle School. Bev's 17 years of experience with middle school students ranging  from general education to APP is a remarkable asset as we develop our Language Arts and Social Studies program at JAMS.

Hamilton Middle School. This evening is specifically designed to answer questions about APP at Jane Addams Middle School.

This evening is designed specifically for families that will enter JAMS and the
APP program for the first time at the middle level.

JAMS Educator Leaders Announced

 

Jane Addams Middle School is pleased to announce four more additions to our leadership team. 


Amy Schwentor will be the Assistant Principal for JAMS in 2014-2015. Amy has spent the past seven years as an assistant principal at Roosevelt High School. Amy is also an experienced National Board Certified Secondary Math and Science Teacher.


David Bilides
is joining JAMS as our Head Counselor. David is currently the head counselor at South Lake High School, and previously, he was the Head of Counseling at Washington Middle School. David has substantial experience in both middle school counseling leadership as well as in private practice.


Susan Ovens
is joining JAMS as our Language Arts Teacher Leader. Susan is currently at Madison Middle School where she has spent the past seven years teaching and the past three years leading the literacy program. Prior to Madison, Susan was part of the Shoreline School District teaching middle school Language Arts. Susan brings a wealth of leadership experience in developing programs that support and challenge all students.


Julia Ward
 will join JAMS as our science teacher leader. Julia has been the science specialist for the past five years at Whittier Elementary School. While at Whittier she has developed community based science partnerships and has earned her Masters in Biology. Julia is also a National Board Certified teacher.


Please join me in welcoming these leaders to Jane Addams Middle School. We are excited to have this team on board and look forward to meeting you all at our Open Houses on February 11 and February 25.

JAMS Music Leader Announced
We are incredibly pleased to announce that Debra Schaaf has accepted the position as the Music Leader for Jane Addams Middle School.

Debra has built the instrumental music programs at both Orca k-8 as well as Aki Middle School. She has developed significant arts partnerships for students throughout the district and also serves as lead teacher through our Career ladder teacher program. With nearly 20 years of music expereince, Debra has the right skill set to lead the development of the Jane Addams Middle School music program. She will be a great addition to the great cadre of music educators in North Seattle. Please join us in welcoming her as the first Jane Addams Middle School teacher!
JAMS Special Education Meeting 2/25/2014
On Tuesday, February 25 from 5:30-6:30, Executive Director McWilliams and other Special Education staff will be available in the JAMS library to discuss Special Education Services at JAMS for 2014-2015. This is prior to the all school information meeting that begins at 6:30.
